Olonkholand Project

The fund «Olonkholand Complex Design Company» with support of the Architects of Russia Union and Architects of Yakutia Union carries out the International Landscape and Architectural Competition for the Design of Olonkholand Complex.

Russian and international teams of landscape architects, architects and urban planners are invited to develop a design concept for Olonkholand complex and its key object Olonkho International Center.

The complex Olonkholand is a set of territory infrastructure and mechanisms of interaction of the people participating in implementation of the Olonkholand national innovative project of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The National Innovative Project Olonkholand is implemented under the Decree of the President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) No.1904 from 26th of April 2010 «About the national innovative project of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Olonkholand» and provisions of the NIP Olonkholand Concept approved by the Protocol No.93 from 22.12.2012 of Economic council of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The project Olonkholand is an actual idea of creation of cultural hi-tech sector in which invaluable traditions of intangible heritage of humanity, Yakut heroic epos Olonkho, and modern advanced technologies will be combined.

The Olonkholand complex will be built on the area of about 47 hectares, located on the bank of Yakut sacred lake Saisar, just a minute’s walk from the North Eastern Federal University, the Yakutsk State Agricultural Academy where the majority of young residents of Yakutsk is trained, scientific and educational activity of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is conducted.

The landscape and architectural concept of the complex has to display spirit of the Yakut people — spirit of top of original culture of the people — Olonkho, at the same time and his aspiration to global innovative technological.

The Olonkholand Complex architectural and landscape concept has to display spirit of olonkho, top of spiritual culture, primordial traditions of Yakut people and their aspiration to the global, innovative and technological at the same time.

Expected conclusions and results of the national innovative project Olonkholand:

—   preservation, research and promotion of intangible masterpiece of humanity, Yakut heroic epos olonkho;

— development of creative economy;

— introduction of new technologies and innovations in the region;

— creation of new workplaces;

— creation of conditions for population creative self-expression and self-realization, particularly for youth and students;

— development of ethnic and cultural diversity of the people of Yakutia;

— strengthening of the multinational people unity and harmony of their relations in Yakutia;

— satisfaction of the population spiritual needs;

— creation of the attractive comfortable environment for population accommodation;

— creation of the platform for concerts, festivals, exhibitions and other actions carrying out;
